Cigars Vegueros
Cigars Vegueros
It is a tradition among the planters of the Vuelta Abajo region to roll the cigars they smoke themselves. It is not uncommon for tourists visiting this part of the province of Pinar del Río to want to taste these local (not to say "homemade") cigars made with the best tobacco leaves in the world. It was to meet this demand that in 1996 the brand Vegueros was introduced to the Habanos-loving public.
But above all, it is created to pay a vibrant tribute to those farmers, keystones of the entire Cuban cigar industry, who, from generation to generation, have tirelessly worked on the plantations of Pinard el Rio. The intense flavor that emanates from the ligada of puros Vegueros is typical of these "country cigars", those that the farmers roll for their personal consumption. The production is entrusted to the Francisco Donatien factory, which occupies an imposing building in the center of the city of Pinard el Rio (capital of the province of the same name in which the Vulta Abajo region is located).
The building is historic, as it was built in 1866 and has been refurbished as a cigar factory since 1961. All Vegueros Habanos are long filler and receive the designation "totalmente a mano". Their taste ranges from medium to strong.
