Juan López Cigars
The story of Juan Lopez cigars
The composition of cigars is limited to tobacco leaves grown in the Cuban region of La Vuelta Abajo. This specificity contributes to raise Juan Lopez to the rank of high-end brands. Thanks to the quality of its Habanos combined with affordable prices, in a few years after its creation, the brand unleashed the enthusiasm of the public and reached the summit of notoriety. She managed to maintain this position until the Cuban revolution. From there, its popularity experienced a relative decline. The brand is only truly successful with a handful of enthusiasts. Consequently, Habanos S.A ranks it Media Bajo in its pyramid. Juan Lopez bounced back in the 1990s following the launch of two new vitolas. The introduction of Selección No. 1 and Selección No. 2 cigars into his catalog enabled him to win back the hearts of a wider audience.
Specificities of vitolas
The torcedores make Juan Lopez cigars by hand. These are long-tripe cigars that easily tame the palate of lovers of light Cuban cigars. The brand’s creations are appreciated by both novices and long-time smokers. Vitolas are sold in small volumes and are therefore quickly sold out. This strategy has the effect of increasing the popularity of the brand, because the supply is not enough to meet the demand. Juan Lopez cigars thus appear as rare products.
Juan Lopez specializes in 4 modules, each corresponding to a specific vitola. Petit Corona is represented by the Juan Lopez Petit Coronas cigar. As for the Corona Gorda module, it is carried by the Selección No. 2 cigar. The Selección No. 1 cigar displays a Robusto module. Finally, the Juan Lopez Panetelas Superbas has a Panatella module.
The soil of Vuelta Abajo is rich in minerals. It is also a particularly sunny place. The sun diffuses a powerful heat and a strong light there up to 8h per day. Added to this is a much appreciated humidity level of tobacco plants. The conditions are therefore met to give birth to excellent quality tobacco. A cigar made from a mixture of Vuelta Abajo tobacco naturally arouses admiration, because it holds in its composition the pledge of its superiority. This is the case with creations displaying Juan Lopez’s rings.
