Ashton Aged Maduro Cigars
Your first impression will be to say, “Oh no, it must be too strong. Or, “Oh no, I only like the light capes. Well think again! Any self-respecting cigar lover must taste the Ashton “Aged Maduro” at least once.
Maduro capes, if worked properly, produce a rich, sweet taste that is unique and unique to them. Few cigar producers can afford the patience and the money to process maduro wraps properly, very slowly and naturally. They can take up to two years longer than a traditional cape to reach their peak of quality. The capes which cover the Ashton “Aged Maduro” are cultivated, selected and classified exclusively. They are then sent to the factory where they are, once again, selected and classified so that finally; the long, incredibly slow process of natural fermentation and maturation begins.
The bundles of cape sheets are placed in large piles (pestles), where they naturally remove unwanted ammonia. When a specific temperature is reached in the middle of the pile, it is dismantled and recomposed from the inside to the outside and from top to bottom so that all the leaves ripen in the same way. This operation is carried out at least six times until their experts are assured that they have reached their peak in quality and high sugar content.
The leaves are then packaged in “bales” and will be stored for another year for their ripening. It is only by completing all these stages that maduro tobacco leaves can express their full potential for sweetness which is typical for them. When the ripening is finished, the leaves are selected again. Only fifteen percent of the leaves are kept for the Ashton “Aged Maduro” factory. So when you choose an Ashton “Aged Maduro”, you are guaranteed to get the finest quality maduro tobacco that “Mother Nature” can offer.
